The other type of BJT is the PNP, consisting of a layer of N-doped semiconductor between two layers of P-doped material. A small current leaving the base is amplified in the collector output. That is, a PNP transistor is "on" when its base is pulled low relative to the emitter.

The types of switches are classified into four types namely:
SPST (Single Pole Single throw)
SPDT (single pole double throw)
DPST (double pole, single throw)
DPDT (double pole double throw)

To test the capacitor with a multimeter, set the meter to read in the high ohms range, somewhere above 10k and 1m ohms. Touch the meter leads to the corresponding leads on the capacitor, red to positive and black to negative. The meter should start at zero and then moving slowly toward infinity.

To identify the pins, keep the front flat side facing you and count the pins as one, two etc. In most NPN transistors it will be 1 (Collector), 2 (Base) and 3 ( Emitter ). Thus CBE. But in PNP transistors, the condition will be just reversed.

The potential energy in a capacitor is stored in an electric field, where a battery stores its potential energy in a chemical form. The technology for chemical storage currently yields greater energy densities (capable of storing more energy per weight) than capacitors

Variable resistors are altered continually as they work: eg for volume control in a radio. Light-dependent resistors (LDRs) change resistance as light levels change. The light levels are detected by a photo-sensitive plate on the resistor.

The key function of an ideal diode is to control the direction of current-flow. Current passing through a diode can only go in one direction, called the forward direction. while LED is just simply emit light when current pass through.

Basically they just both have the use of light to function but technically it has a different use or purpose.

LDR or Photoresistors have been seen in early forms since the nineteenth century when photoconductivity in selenium was discovered by Smith in 1873.

Adrian wrote:Where the relay are commonly used?
Many relays use an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch, but other operating principles are also used, such as solid-state relays. Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a separate low-power signal, or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal.
